According to the data from Eurostat, the Eurozone consumer prices dropped by 0.2% in April from 0.0% in March. The analysts had expected the inflation to decline by 0.1%.

As per the analysts at Danske Bank, this data poses a question for the ECB. “At the moment they are very patient and waiting to see the measures they have taken kicking in but they have to wait a long time because inflation will stay low for a very long time, that’s what we have seen confirmed by the data today,” said Pernille Bomholdt Henneberg.

Oil prices fell at the end of the European session after a three day rally started on Tuesday. As of 12:56 PM EDT the WTI Crude was trading at 45.71 USD/bbl down 0.70% and Brent Crude at 47.78 USD/bbl, which is 0.75% lower than the previous close.

“The issue is that we haven’t seen price rallies … correlate with fundamentals. The fundamentals – high stocks, high production – haven’t changed.” said Hamza Khan from ING.
